23-24 Girls Basketball team

The Lady Coyotes’ 2023-2024 “season went pretty decent”, ending with a record of 11-14. Although it was not a winning record, there were lots of proud moments, and many memories were made.

The journalism team interviewed head coach Trent Kirchman and he summed up the season. We had our ups and downs throughout the season but ended the season playing some of our best basketball. The girls never stopped working hard even when we had a rough patch in the middle of the season and it showed at the end. Once conference started we were able to pull off 6 wins to finish the season. I really commend the girls for their work ethic and attitude this season.

Our conference run was probably the biggest highlight. We had just lost 9 of our last 12 games heading into conference and our girls flipped a switch on the season and carried us to a 3rd place finish in conference. Us going 2-1 in the tournament and finishing 3rd set us on the right path for the rest of the season.

There were lots of good memories that I could write down, especially our unique moments at practice with a few of our players showing some character but one moment that stood out to me about how much our team cared about and rooted for each other was during our 2nd Twin Loup game. Makenna broke the single season steals record and immediately our girls started chanting for her and were unbelievably happy for their teammate. Seeing how happy this group was for other's success is really something that can't be measured. The bonds that this group created has to be the best overall memory.

We are all proud of everyone on the team and are super excited for what is to come of this team next season.
