Makenna with her

A new school record was made! On January 23, 2024, The Girls' Basketball team went to Dunning for the MNAC Quarterfinals against the Twin Loup Wolves. They came home with the win;  66-31. During that game, Makenna Miller broke the girls' season steals record that was previously held by Roni Jacobsen with 109, during the 1996-1997.   Now that the season is over Makenna’s new record is 126!

We sat down with Makenna and asked a couple of questions after this moment. How did you feel after breaking this record? “I am so excited and blessed to be able to achieve this record. I have worked hard for such a long time to get my name on the record board; it feels awesome. I did know I was close before the game which pushed me more. It was awesome to hear my teammates cheering and their support when I got it.”

This year Makenna also broke the record for single game steals in the very first game against Paxton with a total of 13. Those steals proved very helpful as the Lady Coyotes won that game 44-36. The record was previously held by Kourtney Safranek with 12  from a game in the 18-18 season.  Before the end of the interview, we also asked if she had any favorite traditions before a game, and she stated that a favorite was … “folding my socks a certain way.”

We wish Makenna good luck next year!  Keep folding those socks and break more records.
